Welcome to the Aberdeen Camera Club

Welcome to the Aberdeen Camera Club, the oldest photographic club in Aberdeen, Scotland. If you want to join a photography Club that is forward looking, informal, nurturing and inspiring this may be the Club for you. We look forward to hearing from you. We currently have spaces available for new members - contact us for details

Our vision has always been to create a club where everyone feels welcome irrespective of ability and at the same time to foster progress and improvement in photographic technique where the highest standards can be achieved. We try to provide our members with opportunities for practical and creative growth, coaching and constructive feedback, a platform for sharing your enthusiasm for photography and creating a sense of achievement and challenge. We offer something for everyone.

A little history
Founded in 1898 as the Aberdeen Photographic Society, in 1962 its name was changed to what it is now, the Aberdeen Camera Club. The Club is proud of its legacy and has made efforts to keep artefacts and records dating back to those early days. From those early pioneering days to the present our members have always shared the same passion and enthusiasm for photography.

Where do we meet?
Most of our meetings are held virtually as Zoom sessions. Our meetings start at 7:30pm and are mostly held on Tuesdays. Have a look at our What's On for information or contact us for more details.

How much does it cost?
Our membership fee is £15 per quarter year (contact us for details).

Improving your photography

We have members ranging from beginners to professionals and experienced amateur photographers. Several have been involved in amateur photography for decades. • Regular feedback and friendly critique on our images
  • Themed challenges and competitions, as selected by by members
  • Feedback from regular competitions judged by external judges
  • Mentoring on camera skills or other techniques
  • Field trips to share and explore photographic techniques in a practical setting
  • External speakers sharing their photographic skills and techniques
  • Opportunities to participate in local and national competitions
  • Sharing techniques in post processing and printing
  • Sharing techniques, knowledge and experience of photo equipment
  • Encouragement to obtain more formal qualifications and acknowledgements (eg. Royal Photographic Society, Photographic Alliance of Great Britain, British Photographic Exhibitions)

Whether you are just starting out on your photographic journey or you are already accomplished we believe we offer something for everyone. Our aim is first of all to enjoy what we are doing, to encourage everyone to get out and about with their cameras, for each of us to strive for improvement and to provide support for all.
