Welcome to the Aberdeen Camera Club

Welcome to the Aberdeen Camera Club, the oldest photographic club in Aberdeen, Scotland. If you want to join a photography Club that is informal and inspirational this may be the Club for you.

Our vision has always been to create a club where everyone feels welcome irrespective of ability. We try to provide our members with opportunities for practical and creative growth, coaching and constructive feedback, a platform for sharing your enthusiasm for photography and creating a sense of achievement and challenge. We try to offer something for everyone.

Interested? Then we look forward to hearing from you - contact us for details.

A little history
Founded in 1898 as the Aberdeen Photographic Society, in 1962 its name was changed to what it is now, the Aberdeen Camera Club. The Club is proud of its legacy and has made efforts to keep artefacts and records dating back to those early days. From those early pioneering days to the present our members have always shared the same passion and enthusiasm for photography.

Where do we meet?
Most of our meetings are held virtually as Zoom sessions. Our meetings start at 7:30pm and are usually held on Tuesdays. Once a month we meet in person during the day at a suitable venue in the city. Have a look at our What's On for information or contact us for more details.

How much does it cost?
Our membership fee is £15 per quarter year (contact us for details).

Improving your photography

We have members ranging from beginners to experienced photographers. Several have been involved in amateur photography for decades. Our interests include studio portraiture, landscape, travel, wildlife, nature, monochrome & colour printing and audio visual productions.

You can look forward to :

  • Regular and friendly critique on our images
  • Themed challenges and competitions (local and national)
  • Feedback from external judges
  • Guidance on camera skills and post-processing techniques
  • Field trips to explore photographic techniques in a practical setting
  • External speakers sharing their photographic skills and techniques
  • Encouragement to obtain more formal qualifications and acknowledgements such as the RPS (Royal Photographic Society), PAGB (Photographic Alliance of Great Britain), BPE (British Photographic Exhibitions)

Whether you are just starting out on your photographic journey or you are already accomplished we offer something for everyone. Our aim is first of all to enjoy what we are doing, to encourage everyone to get out and about with their cameras, and for each of us to strive for improvement.
